Mongan methodA technique using hypnotherapy to train mothers for childbirth. The Mongan method is often known as hypnobirthing, and named after its founder Marie (or 'Mickey') Mongan M.Ed., M.Hy. Mongan is a hypnotherapist, Harvard Fellow, and author of "HypnoBirthing®: A Celebration Of Life", published in 1989. The benefits of the Mongan method of HypnoBirthing are claimed to include: improved pain management, reduced need for medical intervention, a faster and more relaxed birthing process, a less traumatic entry into the world for the child. Work is closely compared to that of Michelle Leclaire O'Neill, another leading practitioner and author on the subject.
