Watching My Son Go From One Extreme To Another Is Hard

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Von knows his personality can go from violent to somewhat calmer in a matter of using this med and not having it. The cost is more than my son and I, Von, can handle. His depressions keep us all on edge and not knowing what will happen next. He needs this medication urgently to function daily.

My Polio And Me

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Had polio in 1957 - was able to be able to do physical things then. Post polio is now setting in with all kinds of crazy things, including all sorts of neuropathological problems. Docs are now beginning to see the relationship. Duh!!!!!!!!!!!! Docs need to treat and look for more than the symptoms but look for the causes. I have been able to develop a method of treatment of achalasia without complete midsection 4-hour surgery.

Can’t Afford Medicine

Monday, October 30th, 2006

My husband is on Social Security and has dementia and skin cancers with a lot of other problems, I have diabetes and hypothyroidism and high blood pressure. He has VA, I have no kind of insurance. I can only get my medicine only occasionally. With the high prices of utilities and other household bills, my children have to help with our groceries and they have families of their own. I hate to ask them but sometimes I have to or we would go hungry. I have reached the end of my rope. I do not know what to do. His SS is $1209.00 per month and the trips to Houston and Lufkin to the Dr. is expensive. I work three days a week to help out but am 62 and ready to retire.

A Long Wait

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I have been declared by the state as disable after over 3 1/2 yrs of problems and applying and beening denied they finally understood that I could no longer take care of myself without assistance. I have still been denied for medicaid several times and have no way of getting the medicine that I need to function on a daily basis. I have depended on my daughter to help get the medicines that I need but some are too expensive for her to buy and take care of her family to.

Our Bad Luck

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Within the last 4 years I have had 3 surgeries: two on my lower back and one on my right knee. My wife was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year and a half ago. With all of this bad luck we are having, I have been laid off from my job and have been without a job for the past two months. When you are laid off from work a few things happen. Your Medical Insurance stops, your income stops, bills keep coming. With my wife’s and my conditions and the need for medications, we need help to lower our prescription costs, being that we are paying all of it out of pockets. Thank you.
