Empowered Myself

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

My story starts 20 years ago. My husband and I raised a combined eight children. I was a stay at home mom my husband running his own business. Our story is the same as so many others with their own business. You can't afford to purchase insurance and you don't qualify for government help. At one point we heard about Child Health Plus, filed out the application, and qualified for our children. This program saved us many times. One year our family qualified for Family Health Plus. My husband and I quickly ran to get badly needed physicals. My doctor ordered many tests. When I received my diagnosis, I was put on an expensive medication. Our family size and income changed again and we lost the Family Health Plus. I still need the medication but cannot afford to pay for it. This is why I am looking for help.

Medicine Too Costly

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Retirement has turned out to be more costly every day. What was planned on for medical benefits while working, have been eroded after retirement. Pharmacy costs have gone up and medicine benefits have gone down. More out of pocket expenses. Now it is take half a pill instead of a whole one as prescribed.
